BIOGRAPHY
Jacob Öhrvall, a Gothenburg-based bassist and songwriter, debuted as a solo artist with his album Long Gone in 2019. Three years later, he released his second full-length album, Hjärnan av och smajlet på, which won him the Newcomer of the Year award at the Manifest awards in 2023. Now, he is back with his latest single ”Dårskap eller hybris” – the first release from his upcoming album Kultur och fritid, set to be released this fall on BlackValley Records.
Jacob’s music is reminiscent of the playful indie sounds of the 90s, blending distorted bass, grand arpeggio synths, and a good dose of Madchester grooves. Add to that his ironically sharp lyrics, and you have one of the most vibrant indie artists of our time.
Previously, Jacob was associated with more experimental music and was active in bands like Klabbes Bank, The Big Almost, Thoughts of Jacon, and was also the former bassist of the German indie rock band 1000 Gram.
